In reference to the further correspondence
on the subject attached hereto I have the honour to report as
follows:-

Paragraph 2. The Defendant's Solicitor asked the Master as to
Mr. Murray's behaviour, which he gave as impudent. I have no re-
collection of any evidence in favour of Mr. Murray. Had there
been I should have recorded it in my minutes of evidence.
Paragraph 9. The evidence as to Mr. Murray being drunk and leav-
ing the ship without permission was duly inserted in the log.
Funishment was inflicted for being absent without leave and with-
cut sufficient reason from his ship. I have already reported
vide F. & G. in my meno. of 26th. October, 1904 on Mr. Murray's
complaint that he was not allowed to call any witnesses or make a
statement.

Mr. Murray was paid up to the 28th. February when he ceased doing any more work on board the "Scotia". The Waster rendered his account on the 3rd. March. Mr. Murray refused to sign off the
articles and cannot therefore be said not to have belonged to the
ship at any time during his stay at Hongkong.
